Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 22, 2025

MacDock is designed with privacy in mind. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service and do not share your information with third parties.

1. Sign in with Apple

MacDock uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. When you sign in, Apple may share:

  • Your name — used only to personalize the app experience
  • Your email address — used for account identification (you may choose to hide your email via Apple's relay service)

This information is stored securely in your private iCloud container and is not accessible to us or any third party.

2. iCloud Sync

MacDock uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your app groups and preferences across your devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud account and is:

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
  • Accessible only by you through your Apple ID
  • Not accessible to the developer or any third party

3. Local Network & Bonjour

MacDock uses Apple's Bonjour protocol to discover your Mac on the local network. This communication:

  • Occurs entirely within your local network (LAN)
  • Never transmits data over the internet
  • Uses TCP connections between your iPhone and Mac only
  • Requires explicit network permission granted through iOS

4. No Analytics or Tracking

MacDock does not include any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising frameworks. We do not:

  • Track your usage behavior
  • Collect crash reports via third-party services
  • Use advertising identifiers
  • Share data with advertisers or data brokers

5. Data Stored on Your Devices

App preferences and pairing information are stored locally on your iPhone and Mac using standard system storage. This data never leaves your devices except through iCloud sync as described above.

6. Data Retention

Since your data is stored in your own iCloud account and on your local devices, you have full control. Deleting the app removes all local data. iCloud data can be managed through your Apple ID settings.

7. Children's Privacy

MacDock does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App requires an Apple ID, which is subject to Apple's own age requirements.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
